Jayeblog is a my personal weblog site. It's driven by a blog engine built from scratch using php, mySQL, and javascript. The engine features fulltext search, a tagging system (complete with tagclouds), php-generated calendars, comments, IP-specific comment-blocking, and a full suite of customization options.

Visually, the site breaks away from web-standard layouts: menu on the top or the left, content flowing down the left or center of the page, background obscured and monotonous. Jayeblog features a highly unorthodox design, intended to feature the blog and a high-res image simultaneously. The blog entries and various sorting/searching pages have been shifted to the right to make room for the full-page photograph. The site's context-specific menu runs across the bottom of the page, accessible but not distracting. As the menu options are browsed with the mouse, they expand to full functionality.

The site is also set up to change appearance very easily; a new "skin" can be added by simply changing the background photo and modifying a handful of variables in a php document. The php document is then drawn from by all of the site's stylesheets, creating a very simple system for changing the site's "flavor".
